Practical Session 2 Update - Malta

We appreciate how much the cancellation of our exams has affected learners and we are working hard on solutions to ensure learners can gain their qualifications at the earliest opportunity.

Unfortunately government restrictions have not lifted in time for us to open the postponed booking period. Therefore we will be cancelling Session 2 Practical exams scheduled for October-December. Our Representative will provide further guidance in due course. We are very sorry for the impact on teachers and candidates and we will continue to monitor the situation. Thank you for your loyalty and support while these restrictions remain in place.

We will be gradually rolling out remotely-assessed Performance Grades https://gb.abrsm.org/en/performancegrades/ internationally and will share exam dates and booking periods soon.

The booking period for online Music Theory exams at Grades 1 to 5 is now open. The closing date is Monday 12 October. For information about Grades 6 to 8, see our dates and fees page. To book exams you will need to register and create an account with our new online booking service.

Join Jess’s Scratch Orchestra!

We’re so excited to hear that ABRSM Scholar Jess Gillam has launched a Virtual Scratch Orchestra. “At a time where it's not possible for us to be physically together, I wanted to try and find a way where we could still unite and make music.

The concept is quite simple. I'll publish parts for different pieces online. You download the part that suits you best, then make a video of yourself playing that part and send it in. Then I'll put all the parts together to make a Virtual Orchestra and play along live.

The first piece will be Where Are We Now by David Bowie - one of my favourite songs! It’s hauntingly beautiful and seems very appropriate as we all reflect on the world and what is happening around us. This is the first song he released after a long period of silence in 2013. I'll give the first performance online on Friday 17 April.

I'd really love it if you could join. Any instrument, any ability! But for now, stay well, stay safe and take care.

Jess x
